CONVICTION IS SWEET!

Donnie Hudson preached and heaven came down…

This was a house church. They simply took the walls out, added surrounding lights and glass and there you have, 100 people seating and hearing the word…wonderful atmosphere. The sweet music played through the speakers and we sat and waited. In 20 minutes every chair was taken.

In these nights of evangelism, I am always looking for souls who God wants to save… Some nights is like pulling teeth and other nights, you have to control yourself, since the sound and the joy is contagious. This night the presence of God was contagious…

The group sung and we dance the same songs and went to our seats. I dealt with Ephesians 4:1-6 and I knew that the Lord was present to save. Two people came to my spirit. A young man in the back with a sadness that could sadden a whole crowd… In the middle of the congregation, another man with the same look. The Holy Spirit told me to wait.

Rev. Donnie Hudson preached a powerful message.. the words were cutting through like a knife on butter. Convicting and personal.. Lord, in my heart, all I could think of was the two young men. As the invitation came, I went to walk around the congregation, and as I began to ask who was not baptized, several hands went up. I walked to the back and pointed to this young man.. I pointed to him with conviction… I looked at him with love and with determination…he began to cry and all I could do was to walk to him and embrace him with all the love of Jesus I could put together… several came from the altar team to help and heaven came down… many others were saved and we danced some more.

Lord, your presence was so sweet. Conviction is sweet. You could almost hear the presence of God audibly. The music sounded angelic, the group prayed with hands lifted, Donnie preached as if it was the last time and it was our last night of preaching in Brasil,  the hand shakes, the smiles, all indicated that God was present to save…..

When I hugged the young man and conviction came in, I could hear his heart pumping blood faster then ever….my God saved right there in that hug…. Ho! God, you are so good… you can use a man like me to do your work.. how grateful I am for this wonderful opportunity to serve you! How delighted I am with your love!!!!

I am headed home Sunday evening.. toward Columbus, Ohio for the ARM National Conference… Pray for me… I need the unction of the Holy Spirit to continue doing this daily… pray for my family who missed me…Pray for Mary Lucy…. Hallelujah!!

A MIRACLE FOR EVERYONE

The atmosphere in this store front church was heavy. Heavy with death, apathy and sadness. My spirit felt it as I came to the pulpit. It was as if we could not lift the dead. The music was light and sweet but without the punch we were accustomed to in all  the other nights of ministry.

So, I decided to  get their  attention with anything I could do simply to tell them this night was going to be different. I told them that I was not there so they could like me. I was not a piece of chewing gum for them to chew. Second, I took my jacket and put it on inside out, saying to them that I did not think of myself as being too proud. I said it was a privilege to  meet them and I wanted to make sure this was not going to be a show.

Our group danced to a song called, ” Every move I make, I make in You, Jesus.”The movements are an idea of Sidney and Sarah Card. They are gifted children who can make your body move like a good Methodist. The guitar return was perfect , so I played with heart knowing that God had a plan for that night…souls!

Donnie Hudson preached again after this sweet girl JerriAnn gave a testimony.. her words were powerful and full of life. Donnie preached on Matt. 5, The Beatitudes. “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven…”

After Donnie finished with that powerful message, I knew that the crowd of 300 was ready to receive the Lord. I asked how many of them would like to be saved by Jesus that night. 33 came forward.  They came hurting and sad and sick and mourning.

It was a cup of water from heaven to us. We knew that God had visited us with power. The preacher of the church was not sensing the need of the church and perhaps had no idea what was happening. He had had no baptisms for several months. But we knew the Lord saved.

My tiredness was healed.  Icame home rejoicing that Jesus came from heaven and saved that night.

Thank you, Lord. You are good!!!

A TIME OF REFRESHING

A few months ago I started a Bible study at my house. People began to come from all over Athens – people seeking to be refreshed. Here in Brasil the temperature is in the 50′s all day and 40′s at night. My bones are constantly cold and the rain is not helping either. But in the services at night the temperature rises to the 100′s. God has been good to us and warmed us with his Holy Spirit. There is a refreshing going on here in Brasil. You really must come here with us this October 16-30th, 2008.

Today, I had all kinds of blessings. I spent a couple hours with Bishop Paul Lockmann. He is the Bishop of the fastest growing Methodist Conference in the world. He expects 1,000,000 new members in 10 years and God is granting him his request. There are more Methodist churches than ever before in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It was refreshing to hear a man of God tell the story of salvation coming to the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

There is a group of young people here in Brasil at our Methodist church who sing a song called, “Chove Chove Chuva, Chuva de Poder…” (“Rain, rain of power….”) It’s the most refreshing song you can hear over the hills of Santa Barbara. God works miracles with this song. It’s refreshing to hear them singing this song on Wednesday nights.

In our ministry there are many people who serve the Lord in a powerful way. Lourdes is refreshing; she always has a smile these days when answering the phones or cooking. Claudio has to be the happiest person in St. Barbara. Rossana, our financial secretary, is full of the Holy Spirit and sings with great joy. She is a grandmother and a refreshing person to know. Celio, is our “looking good” bus driver. You meet Celio and you will find a friend for life. Mira is very quiet but a great blessing. Andreia is a worship leader and our baker. Rosalina makes the best chicken soup in the world and all other kinds of great food. Charles is our preacher, quiet, gentle, tender, but preaches a storm. Not only that, but he also knows about wood, plaster, cement, drilling, electricity, and whatever you need. He works hard! Jorge, our administrator, has to be the most caring, kind ,gentle, and unselfish person I have ever met. You have to meet Jorge.

In the USA, Becky keeps the bills paid with a smile. Nikki works on all kinds of details all day long, and many of you meet Nikki on the phone. Betty McKinney is our Bible Teacher, managing the groups in Brasil and Israel. I could not do without her, she is a blessing. Steve Pierce takes cares of this website.. CAST WEB DESIGN. Linda Gardner oversees the RTF and other projects and Mary Lucy carries the mail, prays, leads and without her we are lost. She is my dear wife. All of them are refreshing!!

THIS COMING AUGUST 21-22-23, 2008, THERE WILL BE A REFRESHING MEETING IN ATHENS, GA. IT IS THE 20TH REKINDLE THE FLAME CONFERENCE. YOU CANNOT MISS IT. IT WILL BE A REFRESHING EXPERIENCE IN THESE DAYS WE LIVE. COME TO BE REFRESHED!
